This area is surrounded by beautiful nature. The cafe used to be in the city center at Hitoyadocho, but it moved to this mountain area called Okushizu. It still has the same warm atmosphere, but now you can relax and look at the changing seasons of the mountains through the windows.

The shop is in a high place near the start of the Abe River. There are many historic hot spring hotels nearby. With fresh air and the sound of the river, it feels like a secret place. It is the perfect destination for people who want to leave the busy city, smell the delicious coffee, and reset their hearts.

Highlights of Cafe kokorade

The best part of this cafe is the relaxing space created by nature. The inside of the shop has a calm wood design with antique furniture and small items chosen by the owner. Every corner looks like a beautiful picture. Through the windows, you can see the grand mountains of Umegashima. The view is amazing every time you visit, with fresh green leaves in spring and red leaves in autumn.

The most famous items are the coffee roasted at the shop and the handmade sweets. Many fans have loved these since the shop was in the city. The tarts made with local fruits and the soft scones are especially delicious. The coffee is made with the tasty water of Umegashima. It is very smooth and has a deep flavor. When you take a sip, you will understand why the owner chose this place.

The coffee is brewed using Umegashima’s amazing natural water. Enjoy the drive through the mountain roads heading north. When you get to the entrance of the Umegashima Onsen area, you will see the cute sign for Cafe kokorade.

When you enter the shop, first check the daily sweets. The most popular choice is the fruit tart, which changes every season. The crunchy crust and fresh fruit go perfectly with the hand-drip coffee. On a sunny day, we recommend having your tea time on the terrace to enjoy the fresh air of Umegashima.

After relaxing at the cafe, it is a great idea to walk to Akamizu Falls nearby. You can see the powerful 50-meter waterfall and feel the cool mist. After that, you can visit the hot springs in the village. This plan lets you enjoy the cafe, the great view, and the hot springs all together. Why not spend a peaceful weekend here and treat yourself to delicious sweets and the quiet mountains?

Basic Information

・Name: Cafe kokorade

・Operating Hours: 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM

・Closed: Tuesdays and Wednesdays (Other occasional closings and winter holidays possible)

・ Price: Hand-drip coffee from 550 yen / Seasonal tarts from 600 yen / Baked sweets from 300 yen

・Parking: Available (a few spaces next to the shop)

Access

・Address: 4200-1 Umegashima, Aoi Ward, Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture

・By Car: About 50 minutes from the Shizuoka SA Smart IC on the Shin-Tomei Expressway

・By public transport: Take the Shizutetsu Justline Abe Line bus for Umegashima Onsen from JR Shizuoka Station (about 1 hour and 40 minutes).
