Some ryokan don’t take reservations from strangers. Some only open a handful of nights a year. Some require a language, a relationship, or a phone call that most travelers simply can’t make. This is where Ryokanbook exists.
A room with a view of Fuji. A private buyout for twelve. A storied ryokan that opens its doors only a few nights a year. If it feels impossible through the usual channels, that’s exactly where we start.
WhatsApp, Instagram, or LINE—whichever you prefer. No forms, no formalities. Just tell us what you need.
Tattoo-friendly stays. Halal, vegan, or allergy-conscious meals. Whatever your circumstances, we handle the details that matter to you.
A phone call to a ryokan takes more than language—it takes an understanding of local custom, timing, and trust. We draw on relationships built over years to surface availability and arrangements you won’t find anywhere else.
Secured through a direct relationship with the ryokan, outside the usual reservation window.
A group booking no OTA could handle, arranged directly with the inn.
Booked during one of its few open nights of the year, thanks to a relationship built over time.

Planning a trip to Japan for the first time
—or the tenth—comes with questions. Here are the ones we hear most often. If yours isn’t here, just send us a message.
We’re not a booking site. Ryokanbook is a personal Japan travel concierge—Yohei and our team design your entire journey, from handpicked ryokan to local experiences and private transfers, based on a conversation about what you love.
For the best selection of ryokan—especially during peak seasons—we recommend reaching out 2–3 months ahead. That said, we’ve also arranged trips on short notice, so if your dates are close, message us anyway.
Not necessarily luxury in price—luxury in experience. We recommend ryokan based on the quality of hospitality, the story behind them, and how well they match your travel style, from family-run inns to exclusive one-group-a-night stays.
Yes. Beyond ryokan, we can arrange private transfers, rental cars, local experiences, and restaurant reservations—everything connected into one seamless itinerary.
We’re only one message away—before, during, and after your trip. Whether it’s a change in plans or a recommendation for a rainy day, just reach out.
I’ve spent years traveling across Japan—not as a tourist, but as someone building relationships with ryokan owners, local artisans, and communities in every region I visited.
It started with one unexpected night. During my university years, I traveled alone across Japan by bicycle. On my way to Minamiaizu, Fukushima, I ran out of money in the middle of the snowy mountains. A ryokan took me in, fed me, let me soak in their hot spring, and treated me like family—not a customer. That kindness never left me.
Years later, after studying in Singapore and staying in countless hotels around the world, nothing compared to a traditional Japanese ryokan. So I built Ryokanbook: a way to connect travelers with the ryokan, the people, and the Japan that most visitors never get to see.
Today, I visit over 100 ryokan a year. When I recommend one, it’s never a guess—it’s firsthand knowledge, built one stay at a time.
Yohei stays at over 100 ryokan a year across every region of Japan. Not for a ranking. Not for an ad. Just to know, firsthand, which ryokan truly deserve to welcome you.
We don’t sell reservations. We craft journeys—shaped around your interests, paced to your rhythm, and grounded in relationships we’ve built with ryokan and communities across Japan for years.
Tailor-Made Itineraries Every journey is planned around you—your pace, your interests, your curiosity.
Local Knowledge, Not Guesswork Years of relationships with ryokan owners and local communities most travelers never reach.
Personal Support, Start to Finish One concierge, one point of contact, from planning to your last night in Japan.
Ryokanbook is more than a booking service.
We help international travelers discover hidden ryokan, local culture,
regional cuisine, and unforgettable experiences

Every itinerary is carefully curated by people who know Japan beyond the tourist routes.
"Yohei didn't just book us a room—he built us a week we could never have planned ourselves. The ryokan in Aizu is a memory I'll carry for years."
Every journal entry is a real itinerary—built the way we’d build yours. Two nights in Aizu. A slow week through Kyushu’s orchards. Explore the routes, the ryokan, and the pacing behind journeys we’ve curated, and see what’s possible for your own.
Every journey is different, so every price is too—shaped by your trip, not a fixed menu. The best way to find out is to start with a conversation.
