NUMAJIRI PLATEAU LODGE

Hotel & Ristorante Il Regalo

What is Hotel & Ristorante Il Regalo?

Hotel & Ristorante Il Regalo, located in Fukushima Prefecture’s Urabandai Highlands, is a European-style auberge standing at the entrance to Goshikinuma in Bandai-Asahi National Park. Along a quiet highland road surrounded by mixed woodlands, its Western-style exterior rises, featuring multicolored brickwork and two striking spires. It exudes the atmosphere of a European castle, and its location offers views of the majestic Mount Bandai in Urabandai on clear days.

The second floor houses the lodging facilities, while the first floor features a restaurant. The space is unified by warm wooden decor and Italian-style furnishings. The dining area is decorated with beautiful painted plates and wine bottles, making it an “authentic Italian restaurant” where you can savor regional Italian cuisine. It’s a spot where you can enjoy dishes prepared by Chef Jun Ogura, a native of Urabandai, harmonizing with the ever-changing seasonal nature of Urabandai.

Additionally, since Il Regalo is also an auberge, you can stay overnight and relax with a breakfast-included plan.

Colorful Italian Cuisine Made with Local Ingredients

Italian cuisine is fundamentally about “letting ingredients shine, rooted in the land.” Each region of Italy boasts unique local ingredients, and the regional dishes that celebrate them are beloved by the people.

Chef Ogura, in running his restaurant in Urabandai, states, “The idea of utilizing local ingredients is a perfectly natural concept for an Italian chef.” To put this philosophy into practice, the chef actively uses local ingredients, cultivating his own pesticide-free vegetables in a garden behind the restaurant. It’s a restaurant where the chef’s philosophy shines through in every single dish.

As appetizers, enjoy salads and starters generously featuring vegetables from the chef’s own garden and organic produce from local Sato Sogo Farm.

We also recommend our Milanese-style crispy pizza, baked in a dedicated stone oven. The thin crust bakes to a crispy, aromatic finish, while classic tomato pizzas like Margherita feature generous amounts of vibrant tomatoes.

Enjoy our homemade fresh pasta. We offer visually stunning dishes like our “Wide Pasta with 8 Types of Highland Vegetables and Tomatoes,” featuring fresh vegetables from our own garden and local tomatoes, and our original “Buckwheat Pasta with Fontina Cream Sauce,” made with buckwheat flour from Kitashiobara Village.

Meat dishes include Fukushima beef steak and sautéed local perilla pork. The “Fukushima Beef Steak with Lemon” features richly flavored lean beef accented by the refreshing tang of lemon.

Dessert features seasonal offerings like sweets made with Fukushima’s famous peaches and pudding blended with mulberry leaves. For example, the “Mulberry Leaf Pudding with Peach” is highly praised for its perfect pairing of the peach’s sweetness and the pudding’s subtle herbal flavor.

Each dish employs simple seasoning that highlights the quality of the ingredients, showcasing the beauty of fresh, local produce.
