CEO

Tokamachi is a place where I rediscovered the depth of Japan.

When I first visited Tokamachi, what struck me was not just the snow, but the silence it created. Standing in a landscape covered entirely in white, I felt as if time itself had slowed down. In that stillness, I encountered something rare — a warmth that didn’t come from the air, but from deep beneath the earth.

Matsunoyama Onsen, born not from volcanoes but from a prehistoric sea trapped underground for twelve million years, offered a kind of heat I had never experienced before. Stepping out into the freezing snow after soaking in those mineral-rich waters, I felt a contrast so powerful that it stayed with me long after I left.

But beyond the snow, the hot springs, and the art scattered across the region, what truly defines Tokamachi is the quiet strength and sincerity of the people who live here. Their way of life, shaped by long winters, carries a depth that cannot be found in cities.

I recommend Tokamachi to those who are seeking more than a destination — to those who want to step into a slower, deeper rhythm of Japan, and experience its hidden essence.
