Fujiyama Buggy

Riding an ATV through the terrain while taking in views of Mount Fuji

 What is Fujiyama Buggy?

FUJIYAMA BUGGY is an outdoor activity facility where you can experience all-terrain vehicle (ATV) riding in the vast natural fields of Asagiri Kogen, located in Nehara, Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka Prefecture. No driver’s license is required, and staff members provide detailed instructions before departure, making it safe and enjoyable even for first-time riders.

The course spans a vast private plot of land said to be roughly the size of 20 Tokyo Domes. Situated at the foothills of Mount Fuji, the main attraction is riding through a variety of terrains, including open grasslands and lava cliffs, while taking in grand views of Mount Fuji through the trees. It has gained popularity as a rare spot where you can experience the Geopark area of the World Heritage site, Mount Fuji, aboard a powerful buggy.

Highlights of Fujiyama Buggy

The biggest highlight is the collection of spectacular viewpoints scattered along the course that are exclusive to tour participants. The panoramic view of Mount Fuji that opens up after emerging from the woods is a special sight unique to this private land, unreachable by driving or walking. Depending on the weather, you may even see an exceptionally clear view of Mount Fuji right after it rains.

Additionally, traces of the Nehara lava flow and Asagiri Kogen lava flow, formed 4,000 to 5,000 years ago, remain within the course, offering a unique opportunity to feel the evidence of ancient volcanic activity up close as you ride. Because full-size North American-spec 4WD ATVs are used, the vehicles are stable, allowing beginners to enjoy a rewarding off-road experience.

How to Enjoy Your Visit

After checking in, start by testing the accelerator and brakes on a simple practice course. The controls are straightforward, with the right handlebar lever acting as the accelerator and the left handlebar acting as the brake, so you should feel confident after about 10 minutes of practice. Drivers must be 16 years or older, but children as young as 3 can ride along as passengers, making it great for families and couples.

You can choose between two options: the 30-minute On-Site Course, which takes you through forests and high plains with Mount Fuji in the background, or the 1-hour Panorama Course, covering roughly 6 km through grasslands and lava cliffs. If you want to take your time enjoying the scenic views, the longer course is highly recommended. Commemorative photos with Mount Fuji in the background are taken during the tour so you can capture a memorable moment. If you book the weekday-only Wine Set Plan, you will also receive a bottle of local wine from Fujisan Winery as a souvenir. The “Michi-no-Eki Asagiri Kogen” roadside station is located nearby, making it a perfect spot to enjoy local food and shopping after your ride.
