The inn features 33 Japanese-style rooms (accommodating up to 105 guests), all of which offer stunning gorge views. The tatami-floored rooms are calming, with soft light filtering through shoji screens, letting guests relax while listening to the gentle flow of the river.

At the entrance, a small shrine is located on-site. Visiting the shrine in the fresh morning air, climbing the stone steps, and offering a prayer can leave you with a calm, refreshed feeling.

The entire property is non-smoking (with a few smoking-permitted rooms). Facilities include a tea lounge, gift shop, vending machines, coin laundry, and banquet halls. The inn is conveniently located about 8 minutes by car from Ashinomaki Onsen Station on the Aizu Railway, with a shuttle service available between the station and the inn from 15:00 to 17:30. Free parking for 20 vehicles and a standard electric vehicle charger are also available, making it easy to visit by car.
The large public baths, Tono no Yu (men) and Hime no Yu (women), each feature an indoor bath and an open-air bath. They are available from 15:00 to 23:00 and 5:00 to 9:30 the next morning.
Dinner at Fudokan Kotani no Yu features a kaiseki-style meal that makes the most of seasonal ingredients. A colorful assortment of dishes—featuring mountain and river delicacies as well as locally grown vegetables—fills the table, including appetizers in small bowls, main meat and fish dishes, rice and clear soup to finish, and dessert, totaling around 12 carefully prepared items.
Guests can choose to start breakfast at 8:00 or 8:30. Freshly brewed coffee is also served free of charge from 8:00 to 9:30.
All guest rooms are calm, tatami‑floored Japanese-style rooms. The standard 10‑tatami room (for 2–3 guests) is the main type, while there are also larger 12.5‑tatami rooms (up to 4 guests), two-room suites of 10 + 8 tatami (up to 5 guests), and twin rooms with tatami floors and beds (for 2–3 guests). Some Japanese-style rooms are available as smoking rooms. Guests can enjoy a relaxing moment with tea while admiring the scenic valley views from the room windows.
All rooms are equipped with a private bathroom, washlet toilet, air conditioning/heating, TV, empty refrigerator, and air purifier. The inn offers Wi-Fi throughout. Amenities include yukata robes, towels, toothbrushes, shampoo, and conditioner. A coin laundry on the first floor makes longer stays convenient.
Fudokan Kotani no Yu is registered as a “gentle inn”, providing facilities for senior guests and wheelchair users. Simple beds and wheelchairs are available for loan (reservation required, limited quantity), and meals can be served at tables and chairs. Combined with the low-step, barrier-free design, these features ensure a comfortable and accessible stay for everyone.
