Hitoyado Saketen / Hitoyado Taproom is a brewery-owned craft beer shop located in Shizuoka City’s Hitoyadocho district. Opened in October 2022 by Shizuoka Brewing, this taproom is the perfect place to enjoy fresh beer directly from their brewery located in the Takumishuku craft center in Mariko.
The shop is located on Hitoyadocho Ninjo-dori, an area that’s become quite popular lately for its unique mix of trendy shops and local culture. It sits on the first floor of Hitoyadocho Mart, a cozy commercial space inside a renovated 70-year-old traditional house where locals and travelers love to hang out.
The best thing about this spot is the nostalgic and warm atmosphere of the old building. The wooden interior features counter and table seating along with an engawa veranda and an outdoor standing area. The atmosphere is so cozy that it feels just like relaxing at home.
There are always five craft beers on tap, ranging from their signature brews to seasonal specials. A unique feature is the use of local ingredients from around Shizuoka, such as honey from Mariko or yuzu from Kawanehoncho. Since they offer plenty of crisp and easy-to-drink options, even people new to craft beer can find something they like.
After a 15-minute walk west from the North Exit of JR Shizuoka Station, you will find yourself in the stylish streets of Hitoyadocho.
Once you are inside, check the blackboard for the daily tap list. Their most popular beer is the Yuzu Pils, a refreshing choice made with yuzu from Kawanehoncho and rice koji from Okabe. Other unique options include the fruity Shonnai IPA. You can choose between a 200ml small glass or a 400ml large glass, which makes it easy to try a few different styles.
For food, the homemade kebab sandwiches and freshly sliced prosciutto are perfect pairings. A great perk of this shop is that you can actually bring in food purchased from other vendors inside Hitoyadocho Mart, like the local butcher or deli. Browsing the market for your favorite snacks to pair with your beer is definitely the best way to spend your time here.
The shop opens at 3:00 PM on weekdays and 12:00 PM on weekends and holidays, making it perfect for a relaxed afternoon drink. The veranda seats are dog-friendly, so you can stop by while walking your pet. If you find a beer you love, you can take it to go in bottles, plastic cups, or your own reusable jug or bottle. It is a great spot for a break during sightseeing or as a second stop after dinner.
