A sauna lodge where you can jump into Lake Inawashiro
A resort hotel nestled on the shores of Lake Inawashiro in Fukushima Prefecture. Located about an hour by car or train from Koriyama Station, it offers a peaceful lakeside setting where guests can relax and rejuvenate while enjoying stunning views of Lake Inawashiro.
The main attractions of MINATOYA are the unique “tent sauna,” where you can jump straight into Lake Inawashiro as a cold bath, and the rooftop glamping BBQ with stunning views of the lake and Mount Bandai. Here, you can feel completely relaxed while enjoying the breeze, unwind in the sauna, and savor drinks and grilled meats with friends—a truly luxurious way to spend your getaway.
The hotel opened in 1964 and stands right by the lake. Inside, it has a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere with tatami rooms, old-style game machines, and public baths with classic “Kerorin” buckets. At the same time, after renovations, the whole hotel now has free Wi-Fi, and all beds use Simmons mattresses for comfort. It’s a place where retro charm and modern comfort come together, making your stay both relaxing and memorable.

Room
LAKE SIDE HOTEL MINATOYA has two buildings, the Main Building and the Annex, and offers a variety of guest rooms, mainly Japanese-style and Japanese-Western-style. All rooms in the Main Building are equipped with a private bath and toilet (with washlet), and the beds use Simmons mattresses for a comfortable sleep.
One of the most special rooms is the lake-facing “Comfort Sleep Room” for two guests, designed under the supervision of sleep therapist Miho Mitsuhashi. This room features the top-class “Silky Pocket” mattress, used by VIPs, and guests can choose from six types of pillows with different firmness, height, and breathability, as well as three types of aromatherapy scents, creating a personalized, luxurious sleep experience.
Other rooms in the Main Building include Japanese-Western Twin Rooms (2 beds + 4.5 tatami, up to 4 guests), Japanese-Western Triple Rooms (3 beds + 7.5 tatami, up to 7 guests), Japanese-style rooms (10 tatami, up to 5 guests), and more affordable Japanese-Western rooms with a mountain view (2 beds + 6 tatami, up to 5 guests). These options accommodate couples, families, and groups of various sizes.
Bath
The hotel features separate large public baths for men and women, designed as artificial hot spring baths using natural mineral stone “Bakuhanseki” and quasi-drug “Herustone.” The minerals released from Bakuhanseki, along with far-infrared effects, make the water smooth and help warm the body from the core. Guests often say that the baths feel as refreshing as natural hot springs and are effective for relieving fatigue, stiff shoulders, neuralgia, and lower back pain.
Each day, the men’s and women’s baths alternate, and guests can enjoy them at any time during their stay. Day-use bathing is also available for 500 yen per person (ages 3 and up), making it an easy stop for travelers along the way.
