A historic metal caster’s showroom, where you can experience the craft firsthand.

Shizuoka Imono Jutaro is a shop and showroom for cast metal products located in Toyoharacho, Suruga Ward, Shizuoka City. It is operated by Kurita Sangyo, a historic foundry established in 1890 that manufactures parts for machine tools and industrial robots. With a mission to contribute to the local community through metal casting, the company opened this combined shop and showroom on January 26, 2023, to showcase its “Jutaro” brand, which aims to enrich daily life through cast metal products.
The brand name “Jutaro” comes from the company’s founder. The showroom itself is housed in the company’s 80-year-old headquarters building, which underwent a year-long renovation. In addition to handling standard office functions, the building now incorporates a retail shop, a mini-foundry (workshop) where visitors can watch tin products being cast, and a hall for hosting events. Located just a short distance from the historic site of the Edo-period Sunpu Imonoshi-cho (the former caster district), the showroom actively shares the timeless appeal of cast metal.
The greatest appeal of the showroom is the opportunity to view, touch, and purchase cast metal products—a craft most people rarely encounter in daily life. Inside, Kurita Sangyo’s tin tableware and lifestyle goods are on display and available for sale. Tin is known for its ability to mellow the acidity and bitterness of water and alcohol, making the brand’s signature beer glasses and sake cups exceptionally popular. The tin beer glasses feature a satisfying weight in the hand and a textured interior surface that creates a remarkably creamy foam. They are also perfect for serving cold tea or juice.
Another highlight is the selection of playful and unique products. Reflecting Shizuoka’s reputation as a “model hobby capital,” the lineup includes clever items such as chopstick rests shaped like Mini 4WD cars and cast-iron bottle openers modeled after the Japanese paradise flycatcher, Shizuoka’s official prefecture bird. The collection is carefully curated to celebrate local regional specialties—pairing sake cups with the premium sakes of Shizuoka (known as a kingdom of Daiginjo) and beer glasses with the region’s top-tier craft beers. Take your time browsing these items, which beautifully blend the refinement of cast metal with a deep affection for Shizuoka.
It is filled with products where the refinement of cast metal beautifully coexists with a deep love for Shizuoka!
Upon arriving, the best place to start is by picking up the pieces to feel them for yourself. The brand’s website photos were all shot directly in this showroom, and visitors often remark that seeing the items in person makes cast metal feel far more approachable and practical for daily use. The substantial weight, the texture, and the distinct luster of tin are qualities that photography simply cannot capture.
A major feature of the showroom is the chance to witness the manufacturing process firsthand. In the adjacent mini-foundry, you can watch artisans cast tin items like sake cups. This offers a rare window into Shizuoka’s traditional casting culture, which has endured since the Edo period. Because Jutaro was founded with the mission to bring Shizuoka cast metal closer to everyday life, it is the perfect place to find a lifelong piece to integrate into your home.
